There are many legends related to tulips. The most famous one should be the fairy tale "the legend of Farhad and Shirin". It is said that in Iran in the sixth century, a young prince named Farhad and a beautiful girl named Shirin fell in love deeply.
Farhad showed his love for her through many heroic actions, and his investment in Shirin was so deep that when he learned the wrong news that she died of a sudden disease, he was crushed by grief, and Farhad cut himself to death with an axe. Every drop of his blood fell on the barren land, and scarlet tulips grew up, symbolizing their sacred and eternal love. There is another legend. In ancient times, there was a beautiful girl living in a magnificent castle. Three warriors fell in love with her at the same time. They proposed to her, and one gave her a crown; One gave her a sword; One gave her a gold cone. But she doesn't love anyone. The warriors had to ask the God of flowers for help. The God of flowers felt that love could not be forced. He turned the crown into a bud, the sword into a leaf, the yellow cone into a bulb, and together they became tulips. In this way, she accepted the love of the three warriors at the same time, and tulips became the embodiment of love. Because the crown represents incomparably noble status, the sword is a symbol of power, and having a golden cone means having wealth, only aristocrats and celebrities in ancient Europe were qualified to grow tulips. There is even a proverb in the Netherlands: whoever despises tulips offends God.
Tulips have many colors. According to different colors, people give tulips different symbols and use them to represent blessings, prayers, forgiveness, and curses. For example: the “queen of the night” tulips is dark purple, so dark that it’s almost black. The "Queen of night" is used in the worship ceremony of the full moon, which symbolizes mystery and nobility, represents the power and ambition given by heaven, and expresses eternal blessing. In wedding and blessing love, white or bright red flowers represent pure love and strong love. Yellow tulips represent elegance, precious, wealth and friendship, and symbolize holiness, happiness, and victory.
Tulips have a rich history. When tulips bloom, many festivals around the world will take place for a month or more, rather than a few days. During the festival, many of these places hold parades, performances, art performances and so on. The biggest one is the tulip festival in the Netherlands.
