These days, my weekends are all about "Citywalk" β grabbing a coffee, putting on comfy shoes, and just exploring the city one street at a time. πΆββοΈποΈ
It's not about sightseeing like a tourist β it's about feeling the vibe, finding hidden gems, and letting the city show you its real face.
After a few weekends of trying different routes, here are 5 favorites you just can't miss!
Maybe you'll want to grab your sneakers after reading this too!
Wandering through Chinatown in Singapore felt like stepping into another time.
I spent a morning getting lost in little alleys like Ann Siang Hill and Telok Ayer Street β found tiny secondhand bookstores, an old-school bakery selling butter buns for just SGD 1, and beautiful murals hidden between buildings. πππ¨
β¨Tip: Start early around 8 AM β you'll catch the morning market buzz and beautiful soft lighting for photos.
Walking along the Singapore River is honestly so underrated.
I started from Clarke Quay, followed the river upstream for about 4km, and finished at Robertson Quay.
The view? Boats gliding by, dogs playing, uncles fishing β pure peaceful city vibes. π€πΆ
At the end, I grabbed an iced latte at Common Man Coffee Roasters ($7 SGD but so worth it).
β¨Tip: Go around 5 PM to catch golden hour β everything glows!
For the modern city feels, I did a sunset walk starting at Marina Bay Sands, passing the ArtScience Museum and Esplanade.
As the sun dipped, the skyscrapers and water reflections were insanely beautiful. ππ’
β¨Tip: Bring a small tripod if you wanna snap night shots!
Bonus: It's all free β you just pay for your snacks if you stop!
Gillman Barracks is like a playground for art lovers hidden inside lush greenery.
I walked around different galleries for free, and found a tiny museum called NTU Centre for Contemporary Art (some exhibitions cost $5 SGD). π¨πΌοΈ
β¨Tip: Stop at Creamier CafΓ© nearby for a scoop of sea salt gula melaka ice cream β it's $4.50 SGD and legendary.
Citywalk + food hunt = best plan ever.
I looped around Tiong Bahru Market β grabbed char kway teow for $4 SGD, checked out indie bookstores like BooksActually (moved online but pop-ups still happen!), and explored Yong Siak Street full of cute shops. ππ
β¨Tip: Go on Sunday mornings for the full experience β lively but not packed.
Since I started doing Citywalks, my weekends feel way more refreshing and fun! ππ¬
