Most people with Parkinson's disease have gait disturbances, which in mild cases manifest as shuffling, walking without lifting the feet, while the upper limbs do not swing their arms and there is no synergistic movement. In severe cases, this is manifested by a small broken forward stride, and difficulty turning and crossing doorways.

Patients may find it helpful to keep their balance and improve their walking ability by paying attention to the following points while walking.

Family members and caregivers can also promptly correct the patient's faulty posture by following these suggestions.

1. Remember to keep at least one hand free at all times. You can use a backpack or fanny pack to carry your belongings, not your hand. Never hold something in both hands while walking, as this will definitely affect your balance.

2, eyes straight ahead, body upright, stride as slow and large as possible, first foot followed by the ground and then toe on the ground.

3、When walking, consciously raise your legs, dragging on the ground to walk more easily making you lose balance.

4. Try to swing both arms back and forth when walking. If Parkinson's disease has reduced your motor ability, then you should consciously do the action of swinging your upper limbs back and forth when walking, which can help you maintain balance, maintain good posture and reduce fatigue.

5、When you need to turn around and walk back, it is recommended to walk along the inverted "U" shape, turn a big curve, and not suddenly change the direction of walking.

6, keep your legs apart about the same width as your shoulders, walking with your legs together will increase your risk of losing balance and falling.

7. Never use two minds at the same time! Do not walk while doing other things, such as reading a book or looking around. The more focused your energy, the better you walk.

8、Shoes with rubber or raw rubber soles have high friction and are easy to trip over, so try not to wear them.
