When it comes to penguins, many people think that this is a special animal that can only be found in the Antarctic. However, the fact is that penguins are found in many places in the southern hemisphere, except for the Antarctic.

This is because the ancestors of the earliest penguins appeared in New Zealand and then went to the Antarctic from there.

So, does this mean that it is normal to find penguins on the coast of New Zealand? The answer is not. If it is a penguin that lives in New Zealand, there is no problem. However, if it is a penguin that is supposed to live in Antarctica, it is not a good situation.

Some time ago, on the southern coast of New Zealand, a penguin was seen ashore, but the penguin looked around after landing and showed a very surprised look. The locals also noticed that the penguin did not seem to be a local species, so the authorities were contacted.

Soon, the experts figured out the identity of this penguin. It turned out to be an Adelie penguin that is supposed to live in Antarctica, the characteristic of this penguin is that it is very hardy, and they are not suitable for the climate of New Zealand.

In terms of distance, New Zealand and the place where these penguin lives are separated by more than 3000 kilometers. This means that he swam all the way to New Zealand after diving into the Antarctic waters one day, which is definitely an adventure for this penguin.

The penguin was also suffering from severe malnutrition and dehydration as a result of swimming alone for such a long distance. The local penguin rescue center in New Zealand provided emergency assistance to the penguin, and the little guy who escaped from the Antarctic recovered quickly.

In the history of New Zealand, it is not uncommon to find such penguins from the Antarctic, but it was all before the 1960s, so it is surprising that this Antarctic penguin appeared here this time.

The other possibility, experts say, is that the situation is not good, because it may not have gotten lost, but because the Antarctic marine environment has changed and the penguin is expanding its feeding range due to lack of food. The penguin came all the way to New Zealand.

The New Zealanders rescued the penguin and released it, but instead of sending it back to the Antarctic, 3,000 kilometers away, it was released directly on a beach in New Zealand.

This also means that it either stays and survives alone in New Zealand, or re-enters the sea and finds a way to return to Antarctica. Either way, of course, it wasn't easy for it.
